David Grohl recently announced his new solo project ‘Play’, a 23-minute song and mini-documentary in which the Foo Fighters frontman plays seven different instruments. The artist is known for never lacking big, high concept ideas and on this one, Grohl pays tribute to the romantic and obsessive relationship musicians to have with their instruments. As a musician, “you’re always chasing the next challenge,” the rocker says. The project consists of Grohl playing everything from drums, bass and guitar. With uninterrupted takes, ‘Play’ moves fluidly from heavy-headed grooves to jazzy interludes. Grohl’s passion for musical instruments is further evident when he was recently quoted saying: “Watching my kids start to play music and learn to sing or play the drums, it brings me back to the time when I was their age listening to albums, learning from listening… and when I take my kids to the place where they take their lessons, I see these rooms full of children that are really pushing themselves to figure this out.”
