Raw Soul’s latest EP is an introspective offering. ‘In Another Life…’ details the inner workings of an artist’s psyche -the paranoia, anxiety, and doubt- all brilliantly within 6 tracks. ‘Lord Of The Flies’ kicks off the project with hard hitting snares, a dense bassline and theatrical horns. The grit displayed on the opener is sedated for a somber reflective performance on the Soulful and Jazzy ‘Fountain Of Youth’. The melancholy mood strikes an emotional chord as Raw Soul spills his emotions with an honesty and vulnerability that is missing in most modern music. ‘Floating’ featuring Dana Hernandez continues the lush soundscape as Raw Soul continues the artistic insight while Dana Hernandez serenades on the Soulful chorus. ‘Land Of The Snakes’ covers the stress of friendships and relationships gone sour with an additional verse by Won00. Raw Soul vents on ‘Missing This’ with lyrics like ‘All the people tend to merely call it rhyming but I call it therapy’ acting as an encompassing theme for the EP. Pondering on life playing out another way, the authenticity and emotion felt throughout ironically is a sign for a life on the right path and each track on ‘In Another Life…’ is just an epiphany of the evident. ‘Penny For Your Thoughts’ concludes the project with a hint of optimism, the ultimate coincidence is the realization that these discomforting self deprecating thoughts are the outcome of most true artists naturally coping with the confusion of having a true calling in world that is too coy in conceding. ‘In Another Life…’ is a beautiful project that is proof from Raw Soul that this life is THE life.
